So what’s been going on?
1It’s been a while since I last updated the blog, so I thought I’d just very quickly provide an update to what I’m up to and how things are going on.
The ransom work is developing quite well. Approximately 75+ targets have been hit, and I’d say about 70% pay the ransom. Each op normally takes no more than about 30min to conduct with payouts of anything from 50mil up to 3.2bil its well worth the effort. Of course; the targets need a bit of grooming where the higher paying targets needing more attention than the rest… so the time in all for the most profitable targets can actually run into a few hours. Still a good payout.
Concord has no bearing on what is done, so no fear of loosing a ship - other than a target getting a bit above themselves and having a go. Epic fail if they do – but still, they could get lucky. But with no security hit, each target is all for the taking and can be quite a bit of fun.
As skill grow so do the ships and fittings. Skill training thus far has been pushed towards to the ship types that is ransomed to increase the haul amount per op. Now that’s done, training returns to DPS and E-War to further enhance that aspect of operations.
Currently, operations have been supplemented with Industry by Trading, Mining and Building…. Its also a good source of sticking up on cheap ships.
Give me all ya ISK!
2So…
For the purpose of immunity – all-names have been changed here and systems will not be identified
The account starts at approximately 8pm Eve time:
Target is inbound primed and expecting a completely different welcome than that they are going to receive. The ‘pack’ gather… half on the mining belt running a small decoy op, with the others scattered around the target systems stations and +1 jump systems.
Com’s goes live… Radio checks completed… all ships fitted and ammo filled. We all wait in anticipation…
Time for one last review of the ‘Plan’; Gate… scram, web and ransom for $millions, get the cargo and steal the ship if possible.
Notice comes through to us all. Target is now 1 jump out. We are gather around in the inbound gate and ready ourselves. My guns are grouped for alpha strike so the targets shields can be taken off quickly to either provide a friendly ‘nudge’ during the ransom or to simply kill the target quickly. I’m fast shield tank frig fitted so I’m the tackler… It’s important for me to identify, target and get the target warp disrupted and webbed fast before they really know whats going on.
Here goes. Target jumps in from the other side of the gate but is still in cloak my side… I know he’s there but don’t know where. Its important now that the cloak is broken quickly and I grab him before he sees me and the rest of the guys and jumps back. I must maintain the advantage. My initial orbit of 500m on the gate is extended to 1km to try and force a de-cloak. The guys dump drones to also try and trip the cloak… finally there he is on the overview.
Target called - lock, scram & webbed. I call ‘Full point’… he’s not going anywhere. He does have drones out but I’m moving nice and fast so it’s only them I need to worry about. They get targeted in priority of DPS in case I need to defend my self at some point over the next few minutes.
As expected the ‘convo’ starts and we receive the obligatory ” What the F**** guys, what’s going on?”. We run through our ransom and receive what we ask for… but he doesn’t want to get out of his ship so the shields get ripped off him to give him something to consider. Again he sticks to his ground. Off come the armor now we have to be careful not to kill the ship, but he’s not interested anymore or he’s in a blind panic….
Rabbit in the headlights take over and he fires his guns, but recalls his drones…. then stops firing and attempts to run back to the gate unaware that he’s been bumped off track and can’t get back before his structure is starting to go down. Chat goes live again with “STOP STOP STOP”. We do.
We explain again that he needs to leave his ship, and not to attempt to gate jump… but he continues to try and run. “POP HIM” comes over the ‘coms’, and very quickly the ships goes down with a little whit triangle left where a mighty vessel used to be. The Pod come on the overview so I grab it - again I call “Full Point” and get the reply “POP IT”… I simply click on the gun group without hesitation or remorse and watch as his POD goes POP!
The wreck is protected whilst cargo gathered and salvaging taken place… all payments and loot added up and slip among the crew. We have a quick de-brief and go shopping. Target is left alone to continue their Eve career with a hard lesson leant.
Reccemaster Joins RvB
2I’ve now been in Eve for about a year…….. and like many others have trained a mix of skills whilst searching for my destiny. Choosing to Mine, Craft (make things), Trade and Mission I have had a go at most of what Eve has to offer including Wormholes, Exploration and even a little Pirate activity. I am yet to try faction warfare. Although these can be very rewarding, I’ve yet to see my ISK increase by much as I tripped over myself to get into bigger and better ships required for each differing activities. That includes industrial ships with Cargo Rigs, then loosing it two little gits on an un-dock of the station I bought $20mil of Trade goods from to trade.
I’ve noticed however that I always ran away (When I didn’t get podded that is) at the smallest sight of conflict and wanted to learn how to PvP and hold my own. Probably in truth driven by wanting to get these two gits back which I still have kill rights on……… To this end I’ve joined RvB. A week on and I’m enjoying it immensely.
So What is RvB I hear you ask?
The best way I can answer that is to provide you an extract of the recruitment post with a link at the end of the quote to the source…… if it sounds like your ‘bag’ then why not come along and join in.
What is RvB?
R-V-B is a long standing P-V-P institution that began back in 2007. The premise of RvB is two corporations, Red and Blue, which are constantly at war with eachother. You choose a side, join up and are welcome to get into action immediately.A significant portion of the fighting in RvB takes place in frigate and cruiser size hulls there are ample opportunities to kill and use every type of ship.
We are currently operating in the Lonetrek region. Red HQ is in Hageken IV and Blue HQ in Autaris I.
RvB has only two rules. The first is no podding fellow RvB members and the second is no mid slot ECM jammers are allowed except on your own HQ. (Note: None of these rules apply in low sec, null sec or against 3rd party WTs).
RvB’s main forum is found at the following link: http://rvb.tech-pc.com/index.php
Since I’ve been signed up I have found everyone friendly. Willing to provide fitting guidance via the chat (both voice and text and fleets are almost always available. I’m getting better at killing things and living long enough to get away again. My Killboard stats are here: http://redfed.eve-kill.net/?a=pilot_detail&plt_id=784552
As stated. Fleets run frequently and I must say the FC (Fleet commend) has been top notch. Other Corp mates are willing to teach and you can also have good time in general just shooting the shit. I’ve just got a Moa (http://www.eve-markets.net/detail.php?typeid=623) off the corp for $2mil (against $6m off the markets), and have x10 qty Free Ketrel Frigs (http://www.eve-markets.net/detail.php?typeid=602). All from answering some emails that landed in my Eve mail box.
I’m currently learning Frig fits mainly using Rifters and Punishers. I’m finding my skills lagging a bit due to previous diversity approach to sill learning.
I sustain myself trade running from Jita to Hageken. I use a private courier service that only costs me 0.5isk per m3 per Jump so I carry no risk of being cought with my goodies on the way back. Currently, $40m investment in Jita provides about $55m at the end of sale in Hag…. which takes probably about 5 days to complete. I’ll get better as this as time goes on and I learn what items I need to trade and qty etc. Although not mega ISK, I’m making more now from buying and selling the items I use than I ever really made Mining – and I have LOADS more fun doing it! I’ve also finally got crafting down… with Rigs (more to come at a latter date on this).
